My 4 new books. Mozart bio, Norse and Celtic Myhts, Veggos bio

I went to a book bazaar in Athens center last week. Many interesting books in great prices. So here it is
Mozart (by Richard Baker)
(This picture is from a page that gives me shivers. It shows the last notes of Mozart while writing his requiem. Lacrimosa part. My favorite work from Mozart)

An absorbing study of Mozart, a tribute not only to the composer's musical genius but also to his warm humanity. With his customary charm, wit and perception, Richard Baker tells the story of Mozart's triumphant tours across Europe as a child prodigy, his unwilling servitude under the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg and the tragedy of his early death

Norse Mythology (by R.I. Page)

Entertaining and sometimes horrifying legends of gods and goddesses, heroes and heroines, monsters and giants survive from pagan Scandinavia, even though the Norsemen were unable to write them down. Odin and Thor, Freyja and Loki, Sigurd the Volsung, Gudrun and Brynhild are the most famous of these mythical characters, whose stories were eventually recorded. With authority and wit, Professor Page retells the Norse legends and shows how complex and sometimes contradictory their traditions are. Yet it is through these ancient myths that we know how the Norsemen visualized the creation of mankind and the final ending of the world.

Celtic Myths (by Miranda Jane Green)
Celtic Myths explores the mythology and beliefs of the pagan Celts between about 600 B.C. and A.D. 400. At their peak, the Celtic peoples inhabited a vast area of Europe, Great Britain, and Ireland. As non-literates, they have left no written record of their lives, their beliefs, and the stories which were such an important part of their culture; however, contemporary commentators from the Classical world, later Christian scribes recording oral traditions, and the archaeological evidence can give us fascinating, though fragmented, glimpses. Dr. Green draws on all these sources to discuss the myths and the religious beliefs and ritual which she believes inform them.

Both Norse and Celtic Myths are from the Legendary Past book series

Thanasis Veggos - Biography (by Giannis Soldatos)

A great biography book it's the least that someone can do for this man. The one and only Thanasis Veggos. My favorite Greek ACTOR.True artist who is still giving a big fight in the hospital for a month now :(

Spartacus - Gods of the arena. Brutality is back :D (No spoilers)

I managed to see the first two episodes and i' m so exited! Nothing has changed since the first season ended at his climax. Same spirit, same atmosphere, same photography, same violence-blood-splatter-sex combination! We already know that Spartacus - Gods of the arena is a 6 episode prequel of Spartacus - Sands and blood. Spartacus is not in the story this time cause this mini series follow the period of Capua before Spartacus.

The House of Batiatus is on the rise, basking in the glow of its infamous champion Gannicus, whose skill with a sword is matched only by his thirst for wine and women. These are the times a young Batiatus has been waiting for. Poised to overthrow his father and take control, he’ll freely betray anyone to ensure his gladiators are in the highest demand. And he’ll have his loyal and calculating wife Lucretia by his side for every underhanded scheme, drawing on the brazen talents of her seductive friend Gaia when it counts. Together, they will stop at nothing to deceive the masses, seize power, and bleed Capua dry in this audacious prequel to “Spartacus: Blood and Sand.”

In Blood and Sand, Crixus was already the champion and best gladiator in that time and Spartacus was capture as a Greek slave to become a gladiator. This time (in Gods of the arena) Crixus appears as a Gallic slave there and Gannicus is the best gladiator of Capua. Also Oenomaus (who was the trainer of gladiators in first season) is also a champion and equal gladiator with Gannicus.
I feel sorry for Andy Whitfield and i wish he will be back in Spartacus season 2 as the Spartacus we all enjoyed. If some of you didn't know, Andy Whitfield was diagnosed non-Hodgkin lymphoma and he will probably not continue in Spartacus series as Spartacus
In March 2010, Whitfield was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, beginning treatment immediately in New Zealand. This delayed production of season two of Spartacus: Blood and Sand.In June 2010 it was announced that Whitfield completely finished his treatment, had a clean bill of health and was expected to be back on the set of Spartacus: Blood and Sand by October.Three months later, in September, it was announced that Whitfield's cancer has returned and he would not be returning for the second season of Spartacus.

Well the most important is Andy to manage with the non-Hodgkin lymphoma problem and get well and healthy soon.
About the prequel Gods of the arena, i really liked the first two episodes and it’s great that it keeps the same style what we loved in first season. Of course most of the story is about the early life in Capua and its first gladiators, Batiatus ambitions to raise his power the stories of Oenomaus, Crixus and Gannicus. The protagonists' casting is the same except Gannicus.
Batiatus (John Hannah), Lucretia (Lucy Lawless), Gannicus (Dustin Clare), Oenomaus (Peter Mensah), and Crixus (Manu Bennett).

The beginning is more than promising. Unfortunately Spartacus - Gods of the arena is a six episode mini series. So in four weeks the series ends. At least let’s hope to see the same climax as in Sand and Blood. Till next Friday.....Clean the blood from your screens!

Get well soon Andy

Check the two traillers and some pictures
